Powers of Attorney

A Power of Attorney is a legal document, which allows a person or persons of your choice to manage your financial affairs or deal with specific matters for you. The persons can be relatives, friends, or a professional, usually your Solicitor in that case.

Having a Power of Attorney can be useful:

  • If you are intending to leave the country for a period of time.
  • If you are concerned that you would not be able to cope in the future.
  • If you wish for someone to handle your affairs should you become mentally incapable - a Lasting Power of Attorney would achieve this for you.

Appointing an Attorney must be thought about carefully. We can explain the Power of Attorney in more detail and provide advice and guidance.

We can also advise you concerning the changes which came in to force in October 2007 under the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

If you would like to find out more about how we can help you, please complete our enquiry form or contact us on 01929 552471 for Wareham or 01929 422666 for Swanage.
